Travels to Southeast Asia: Burma, Cambodia & Laos
Curious about the less explored corners of Southeast Asia? Professional travel photographer David Cardinal '81 will show us some of his photographs from the photo safaris he has led to Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia and Laos as well as let us in on some of his very colorful stories. Then we'll all participate in a lively discussion on some of the issues facing Burma and other countries in the region as well as the role that eco-tourism can play in helping address some of their persistent problems. If you're interested in traveling to the area there will also be plenty of advice on what to do and what to avoid if and when you go.
David Cardinal '81 is a long-time wildlife photographer who specializes in North American mammals and birds. His images of creatures in the wild help communicate the importance of our natural heritage and our responsibility to preserve it. David's work is part of the permanent exhibit at the Lucy Evans Baylands Nature Center and has been featured in exhibitions at thePalo Alto Civic Center, the Seipp Gallery in Palo Alto, The Works gallery in San Jose, the Watsonville Wetlands Nature Center, on calparks.org, and on portolavalley.net. David is co-author with Moose Peterson of The D1 Generation, and has had his articles and images appear in publications including Outdoor Photographer, Studio Photography & Design and PC Magazine.
