Monterey Bay Photo
Safari:
|
|
Have you been wishing for a no-compromise photo trip that could also be a great vacation for you and your spouse? Finally we've designed one. We'll be staying and working in the Monterey Bay area--specifically the restored dunes north of Monterey at the gorgeous Marina Dunes Resort--near the home of the famous Elkhorn Slough and Elkhorn Marine Reserve, one of the greatest places in the US for marine mammals and shorebirds. We'll be shooting right from the beach in front of our hotel, as well as other bird photography hotspots along the Bay. The safari will also include a trip down to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and some of the spectacular scenic locations along the southern Monterey coast and Carmel. We may also be chartering a boat to take us out into the Slough to photograph Sea Otters, endangered California Harbor Seals, sea lions, and of course plenty of shorebirds. Great for Couples!Everyone is welcome on the boat, at the Aquarium and for our trips to some of the most beautiful coastline in the US. It's lots of fun to see the animals and enjoy the scenery. Classroom SessionsWe have a classroom at the hotel reserved for hand-on sessions where we'll go over some wildlife photography and Photoshop techniques. More importantly we'll be able to work with your images directly and help you to make the most of them. |
While we're shooting we'll have lists of shopping & other attractions for spouses who don't want to shoot (although they're welcome to join us for shooting expeditions).
We'll be staying at a truly wonderful beachfront resort on the dunes North of Monterey, the Marina Dunes Resort for those wanting a wonderful "luxury" experience, or across the street at the Best Western for the same location but more spartan & less expensive facilities
Logistics:The safari runs from 3pm on Sunday October 23rd to 11am on Thursday October 27th. The safari fee of $695 per photographer ($200 for a non-shooting companion) includes all photo instruction, any boat charters, and Monterey Bay Aquarium entrance ticket. In addition participants can receive a critique of their images as part of the photo instruction and will get small group instruction on digital workflow and hands on Photoshop tips from David. Meals will normally be eaten as a group but the cost is not part of the safari fee. |
