Sigma 120-400mm Lens Field Test

We just finished another successful Texas Bird Photo Safari. I'll be writing more later in the week but since so many of you are curious about the Sigma 120-400mm Telephoto Zoom lens I wanted to let you know that it was a complete success.

Nikon Logo Wear on Sale

Nikon is clearing out inventory of its Logo Wear with a 50% off sale on ProGear. Now you can look like a Pro for a few less bucks!:-)

So you think you have a fast computer?

You may think you have a fast computer, but for those for whom money is no object PC Magazine has put together the specs for the ultimate Photoshop PC (Windows version). They used over $4,000 worth of components but the results are to drool over. If you're not the DIY type of course you can give these specs to a "white box" clone assembler (I've used magicmicro, SAG & Xi over the years) and have them do it for you. Any other great stories about recent killer Photoshop machines? Let us know!

Why you should want a Vertical Grip

With the huge increase in the capability of smaller sized D-SLRs more and more of us have grown fond of carrying smaller cameras like the Nikon D300, D700 or D90 or Canon 50D. For travel and convenience they can't be beat, and image quality is nearly the equal of their larger cousins. But there are some sacrifices. The lack of a convenient way to use the camera vertically and the loss in speed are a burden when you're shooting locally and not hampered by travel issues.

Showing your Images in Style

One of the most powerful features in Proshow is Slide Styles. With a single click they let you add some snap to your images with unique treatments ranging from professional scrolling captions to photo album like layouts and other professional effects. Not content to rest on their initial set of styles, . I didn't understand the value of styles until Amanda from Photodex demoed them to me at PMA. Now I'm a big fan. I used a couple on my first Death Valley slideshow, but to demonstrate a little more of their power I've uploaded a new (it's in HD, so definitely try it out with YouTube's new HD option!).
