Nikon D300s Updates D300 with HD Video --Article Updated
The Nikon D300S delivers a feature packed update to the venerable Nikon D300. It features HD Video and dual slots. Highlights include:
- 720p video (probably a love/hate thing depending on your usage)
- 7fps -- a nice upgrade from the 5 fps of the D300 for those not using the vertical grip
* SD slot as a companion to the CF slot (nice for those of us who also have a point & shoot and the dual card Lexar reader or an SD slot built-in to our laptops) -- IF this works with Eye-Fi (wireless) might be a very cool addition. 2nd card can be used for video which is a nice touch - Stereo mic input for video (built-in mic is mono)
* Possibly upgraded to 8fps (nice, but we can get that with the vertical grip now) - * Possibly a "quiet shutter" option--which sounds nice but I'd mostly want it for birds, when I'd also want 8fps, so I'm guessing it might not help for that but would for quiet concerts, churches, etc.
The camera shipped with a $1799 initial street price, Nikon D300S is available from B&H for $1499 as of February, 2011. B&H also has a new video for the camera:
